The Lower Deck is the student union bar situated in the basement of the University of Greenwich’s Dreadnought Building.
The venue hosts regular events and parties and is a popular place for students to meet and hang out, offering a good selection of food, drink and entertainment.
The main event space has a 3×3 video wall situated on the back wall with a stage area in front, the video wall is used to promote upcoming events.
A problem had arisen that the media wall is at risk from people bashing into, or spilling drinks onto, the monitors, meaning some screens had already been replaced.
Mark from the Information Services team at the university was asked to try and find a solution to this problem. This is where Reflex, working in partnership with Quadra AV, first came into the conversation. After having an initial meeting with Mark, the media wall was shown to us and we were asked if we could think of a solution to the problem.
We followed this up with a full site survey, which was essential to understanding the sizing of the screens and the very tight space in which they were mounted. Also, the Audio Panel that is situated snug up to the lower right bottom corner needed to be taken into consideration.
