Meet Prysm – the greener, smarter display
Prysm is a new generation of display that isn't simply bigger or better – it's smarter. Prysm uses Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology. Unlike traditional technology that wastes light with filters and layers, LPD creates stunning images directly from low-power, solid-state lasers. The result is a long-lasting, freeform, brilliant display that reduces environmental impact. In fact, Prysm is four times more efficient than an average LCD screen.
The Prysm displays are uniquely flexible and low-impact, freeing you from the limitations of standard technologies. The Prysm videowall screen is 25" with a seam gap of just 0.2mm, enabling you to create spectacular, seamless walls and eye-catching displays. Brilliant pictures are the key to large format displays and Prysm offers high definition, high speed and high brightness. |
 |
|
Its modular design and scalability allows for the construction of videowalls of all shapes and sizes, including columns, strips and archways. It's an ideal solution for:-
- Entertainment
- Public spaces
- Transportation
- Hospitality
- Command and Control
Additionally Prysm is a durable display solution as the products have long lives and are easily maintained.

Reflex's Video Doctor opens their surgery
We have recently launched a new, free of charge service called Video Doctor. It's a direct response to a 200% growth in Video Communications business at Reflex over the last three years.
Roland Dreesden, our MD explains the thinking behind the launch.
"Increasingly, we are delivering integrated solutions that take technologies from different manufacturers and require them to work effectively together. Each manufacturer can give advice on their own products, but we recognised a gap in the market for a resource that can take a broader view – someone who can give cross-manufacturer, commercially aware advice."
The Video Doctor service is an email and phone service that makes this expertise available through one contact point. Additionally a chat service will be available shortly and the Video Doctor will also make site visits.
The type of query the Video Doctor may assist with is business based as well as technical. For example, they can help a customer to understand how video communication can benefit their business. Or they may advise a customer who is looking to distribute video around their business but are confused by the options.
We see a high demand for the Video Doctor's services as Video Communication continue to grow strongly. The introduction of HD solutions, good quality desktop solutions and immersive telepresence systems are fueling this growth. Alongside this, there are requirements to record and stream video, bring live TV to the desktop and video to digital signage solutions.
The convergence of AV technologies and IT solutions from the likes of Cisco and Microsoft seems to be confusing for clients and it is not altogether clear how this will benefit end users. We see very large growth potential in the large corporate market, universities and healthcare. Our experience is that the SME sector is also crying out for a simple way to implement some of these technologies that will help their business. New technical team member has global experience
Continuing with our strategy to develop our technical offering, we are delighted to welcome on board Bryan Edwards, Technical Sales Manager. Bryan's role will involve working with Reflex's account managers in designing technical systems for clients.
Bryan has a wealth of experience in this field. An electronics engineer by trade, he spent 12 years working in South Africa in telecoms and more recently has developed high-end AV systems in UK corporate markets, as well as in central and local government. His experience includes work at the House of Commons, House of Lords and Welsh Assembly.
Having worked for the last two years as a freelance AV design engineer, with clients in the Middle East and India, Bryan missed the 'hands on' side of his work. Researching the most respected AV integrators, Reflex was the name that repeatedly came up!
Bryan is not only CTS qualified but is a PRINCE2 project manager and Reflex welcomes him to the team.

Largest ever ISE a hit with customers
|
|
We took to the road in our luxury VIP coach with 18 of our customers on 1st February, en route to Amsterdam and the largest ISE show to date with over 35,000 visitors.
A key element of the trip was Reflex's Customer Workshop. It's the fifth year running that Reflex has held the workshop and it's become an important element of the show for us, with 25 customers taking part this year.
The Workshop's objectives are twofold. Firstly it opens up a dialogue with the market about their requirements for technology services and most importantly, gives us an understanding of what customers are looking for in the future.
Secondly the Workshop helps to educate about various aspects of AV and promotes the sharing of ideas.
During the workshop we asked customer to vote for the product of the day and the results were:
- The NEC 3D display
- A range of improved TeamMate products – with easier rear access with quick release panels and fuss free approach to internal patch panel
- Steljes Waterproof screen – a wide screen HD ready waterproof 17" Aquavision
- Wolfvision display 3D Visualiser – for applications in science and education, product & design, engineering, medical and telemedicine or videoconferencing/telepresence
An area of real interest was the roadmapping from NEC, Crestron, Elmo and SMART, giving a glimpse of what might be expected at the 2012 event perhaps! The overall theme to future technology seems to be in augmented reality/touch, optical technology and video communication.
When asked how he found the show, Steve Hurford, AV Supervisor at Birkbeck College said "I found it invaluable. It was really good to meet so many people along with the opportunity to meet the manufacturers and gain knowledge of the latest products and technologies."
