Christie's new widescreen projector fills a market gap

In small to medium sized meeting rooms or video conferencing suites, businesses can now benefit from crystal clear images in full High Definition.

The Christie LWU420 is an extremely high resolution product that is not only compact but has the highest brightness in its category of LCD projectors.

WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200) is a natural fit with today's computer resolutions. Combine this widescreen capability with high brightness, and the LWU420 can keep pace with any display requirements as it has pixel-to-pixel compatibility with the latest laptops and video sources.

Being able to display such high resolutions provides more detail for intricate spreadsheets in the boardroom. And when used for video conferencing, it enhances the ‘face to face' feel of today's systems.

If low cost of ownership is a factor in your selection process, the LWU420 is competitively priced, and is packed with premium features, with technology that gives a more natural black state and smooth colour tone. As a single lamp projector, reduced lamp replacement costs combined with low power demands (only 460W consumption) make this projector an affordable choice.

It's backed by leading support and service, coming with a 4-year deinstall/reinstall warranty.

To find out more about the Christie LWU420 or to see it in operation contact the Reflex sales team on: 0118 931 3611 or email: info@reflex.co.uk

Customers give thumbs up for Reflex's installation service

A survey of our customers has given a satisfaction rating of 90% for our installation department.

Conducted over the last 12 months the results come from over 200 customers and are a valuable source of feedback that we use to improve and develop our services.

Paul Taylor, Reflex's Installation Manager believes one of the reasons behind the good ratings is that we employ our own installation engineers. "This way I can be confident in the quality of our engineers' work and control their diaries. I'm responsible for ensuring that a risk assessment is carried out and the installers are fully briefed and equipped."

Reflex always aims for a high quality of installation. Cables are concealed in the walls and ceiling voids where possible and all equipment racks are professionally wired and labelled with any unused space concealed with blanking plates.

"The team is trained to pay attention to the smallest details" says Paul. "All installers wear a Reflex uniform so that they can be easily identified; they clear all the packaging away and carry vacuum cleaners so that they can tidy up when they have finished."

We have vigorously pursued relevant accreditations, including SAFEcontractor, CHAS and CTS. Reflex is accredited to ISO9001 and ISO14001, as well as being registered with Construction Line, the UK register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants.

One of the customers who completed the survey was Annie Macnamara the Head of Internal Communications, Europe at Pitney Bowes, who said
"Everyone was helpful, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. You have a good team, thank you."

Ollie Furlong, Media Services at the London College of Fashion felt
"The installations were professional and quick whilst having to deal with time constraints and extra obstacles (piping, lack of power sockets etc) Well done!"

Videoconferencing as a business tool

Videoconferencing (VC) is not by any means a new technology but it's fair to say it has been a slow burner in terms of adoption.

Our clients have historically cited lack of technology infrastructure and concerns about staff expertise as key obstacles to successfully using VC but these perceived issues no longer stand up to scrutiny. As a result, many establishments are considering VC afresh as a means of reducing travel time, increasing productivity, as well as saving costs and energy. In the last year Reflex has seen an increase of 42% in the number of VC sales we have put into clients.

Larger organisations will often have custom built videoconference rooms and the growing availability of desktop systems means even without a dedicated facility, the technology is increasingly accessible.

As standards are now well established and manufacturers have responded to the need for plug and play functionality, it is no longer necessary to have a technician to hand for every conference.

However, we have found that involving an expert in the design and implementation of the system is critical to the success and adoption of the technology. Factors such as suitable audio, lighting and integration of other audio visual equipment need to be addressed early on in the planning.

Success depends in part to the system's ease of use and its accessibility. Other factors include staff training and having a project champion within the organisation who will drive through the change in mindset and behaviour necessary to realise the full benefits of the system.

Free audio training – dates now confirmed

Further to the success of our free audio training that we ran last autumn, we can now announce three dates that are confirmed for 2011.

2nd January – Basic Course - Reflex offices, Reading
3rd January – Advanced Course - Reflex offices, Reading
11th January – Advanced Course - University of Bath

The day will start at 10.00 and finish at 15.00.

The course is very much a 'workshop' where we carry out set up tests and procedures and examine the outcome. The objective is to improve the confidence with which a technician approaches their everyday set up tasks.

There's no need for delegates to have formal knowledge of physics or electronics but to simply have an open, interested mind for the subject.

The courses will be free but booking is essential as it is a popular event and there are limited spaces. To register your interest please contact Kristy Shepherd by emailing kristys@reflex.co.uk or contacting the sales team on: 0118 931 3611.

Architects' Lunch & Tour

In association with InfoComm International, we are hosting a Lunch & Tour of Imperial College London specifically for architects on 15th October 2010.

Delegates will attend a RIBA approved presentation on Audiovisual Technology and Project Design – Partnering with Architects for More Successful Projects. This Lunch & Tour will also provide a hands-on demonstration of how consideration of AV should be included in all architectural plans.

Also featured is a working lunch presentation; an introduction to the concept, design and development of the AV within the classroom; some major architectural and building points of interest; and an opportunity to earn RIBA approved core curriculum CPD renewal points (RPS Number: 25473).

Any Architects interested in attending should contact: Roland Dreesden by email on: Rolandd@reflex.co.uk
or telephone: 0118 9754 6480

Customers tell us what they think about our events

A recent survey of customers who have attended a range of our free technology events has given us some great feedback about where we should be targeting events in the future.

Encouragingly, 100% of those respondents who answered the question rating the content of our events said that it met or exceeded their expectations. Our speakers got a similarly good endorsement.

The survey covered customers who had attended all types of events, from our large Technology Days through to training sessions and events held at customers' premises.

Areas highlighted as topics for future events included video streaming, 3D and HDMI – a really popular topic at TD10 earlier this year. We'll be taking all the comments into account as we put together our programme of events for next year.

One interesting point was that not all customers realised that Reflex events are free of charge – so if you spot an event you are interested in, all you need do is register.

Reflex would like to thank all who responded, we value your feedback
