Short throw Projectors for more comfortable presentations

Epson's range of ultra-short-throw projectors are designed to meet the growing demand for more effective audio visual support in offices and boardrooms. The new models integrate easily with standard or interactive whiteboards with the ultra-short-throw distance significantly reducing glare and shadow interference.

The range consists of five projectors, two of which have inbuilt interactive capabilities which can turn any projection surface into an interactive one. The Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi use an interactive pen to give the presenter total control of applications, add notes and drawings which can be saved during a presentation. This interactive ability is unique to Epson and gives huge flexibility in how the projectors can be used, encouraging participation and collaboration.

For larger rooms, the presenter can amplify their voice via a microphone input and an inbuilt 10W speaker. The range also includes Ethernet and optional wireless connectivity to allow you to deliver presentations over a network and effectively engage delegates in a large or small room.

Further products in the range offer the same functionality as the Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi without the inbuilt interactivity. They are perfect for rooms that require brighter, clearer presentations without glare or shadows.

This range of products provides an easy to use solution so presenters can focus on the audience rather than the AV equipment.

Reflex strengthens team for major Corporate drive

Over the last few months, we have restructured our business and strengthened our sales team with the appointment of Jessica Coombs who will be heading up the Corporate Division.

Bringing 15 years' experience within the technical AV arena, Jessica has extensive knowledge of the consultant led installation market in both domestic and international corporate environments.

It's an area that we are targeting as a major growth area over the short and medium term.  Her appointment is the final element of a restructure of the business, which sees the company's resource focusing on Public Sector and a new dedicated Corporate division.

Sales, engineering and project management teams have all been realigned to support the new drive with the aim of developing a deeper understanding of the needs of each market sector. Reflex already has connections with AV consultants, main contractors, architects and fit out companies, but the strengthening of these relationships is something that Roland Dreesden, our MD, sees as vital for successfully developing the new division.

"The re-structuring of our resources, Jessica''s appointment and an expansion of our in house technical ability clearly demonstrates our intention to continue our progression in delivering quality solutions for our customers.  We are very pleased to have Jessica join us at such an exciting time and see her role as pivotal in helping us expand our business.  Her understanding of the way relationships work with AV consultants and other important third parties will be invaluable in pursuing our strategy."

Commenting on her decision to join Reflex, Jessica said "Reflex is a very strategic integrator who has close working relationships with leading manufacturers. Their combination of cutting edge products, coupled with innovative, intuitive, yet impartial design advice, gives third parties a strong reason to partner with them."

Reflex delivers 'superb' result for Napp pharmaceuticals

When Napp Pharmaceuticals undertook a joint venture to develop a new Headquarters campus of 3 linked buildings, they placed great importance on finding a partner to deliver the technology requirements. Reflex was appointed as their chosen partner, to manage installations in Units 196 and 194 of the campus.

Main reception area
A 52" LCD screen is used in the reception area, capable of displaying any of the input sources within the area. An Omnivex digital signage solution displays onto four wall mounted and one ceiling mounted 46" LCD screens.

Meeting Rooms 1-4
Rooms have a wall mounted 57" LCD screen. We connected up the equipment to the supplied table mounted controls which allow the projector to be powered on and off and the input source to be selected.

Meeting room 5
An LT-280 ceiling mounted projector displays onto a 77" interactive whiteboard which is used for training and interactive meetings.

Meeting rooms 6 and 7
Ceiling mounted projectors in both rooms project onto a 77" interactive whiteboard in room 6 and a standard fixed projection screen in room 7.

In all rooms, control of the system is via a central control system.

Other Equipment

Portable Equipment

In addition to the fixed installations, Reflex provided two portable lecterns with cable management that can be moved from room to room. A portable Polycom video conferencing system allows point-to-point calls to be made over Napp's IP from anywhere with a network connection.

Fixed Equipment

Reflex also supplied and installed 8 x 64" interactive whiteboards with integrated projectors.

Remote Equipment  Management

Reflex installed Crestron RoomView™ a software package which gives centralised management and real-time monitoring of multiple control systems over Ethernet.

Installation

The installation was carried out in various stages. Reflex's team installed the cabling whilst the walls and floors were being built.

Reflex provided Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings, plus full Operation and User manuals.

The Results

According to Ben Peroni, Facilities Project Co-ordinator, the result was "absolutely superb."

Since completing this project, Reflex has worked with Napp on a number of other projects.

FIT-AV 2010 exhibition shows how functionality and beauty can work hand in hand

We have teamed up with joinery company and office fit out specialist, Dealerward, to run an event which focuses on seamlessly integrating the furniture and technology within an office, reception area or boardroom.

The Furniture Integrated with Technology and AV event – FIT-AV – will run from Monday 22nd February to Friday 26th February at Reflex partner AMX's offices in Finsbury Circus, London.  It is particularly aimed at architects, designers and AV consultants.

Roland Dreesden, Reflex's MD explains the thinking behind the event.  "When organisations are committing multi thousand pound budgets to revamping prestige areas of their building, it's not only practicality but aesthetics that are important. By combining Reflex's AV technical expertise with Dealerward's experience in professional fit outs, the client gets a solution that is stunning as well as functional."

Andrew Platt, MD at Dealerward agrees. "The key to integrating the two elements is to plan in the AV equipment at the point when the room's furniture is being designed. That way, you avoid last minute changes which may compromise the beauty of the design."

The event is being supported and hosted by AMX and visitors will be able to see how the latest AMX products, such as their hydraport retractable cable connection port, bring additional functionality to any refit.

Admission to FIT-AV 2010 is free but by invitation visit www.fitav2010.com or contact kristys@reflex.co.uk or mollie@dealerward.com to secure your invite.

Technology Day - April 2010

Our fourth annual and ever popular Technology Day will be taking place in April this year.

Last year, over 100 end users from the higher education, corporate and public sectors attended the event. They included Len McLean of BHP Billiton who particularly valued the seminars and as a relative newcomer to AV, he said "today has given me a fantastic insight into the technologies and solutions open to me."

To register early interest for next year's event please contact Kristy Shepherd by email: kristys@reflex.co.uk or contacting the Sales Team on: 0118 931 3611
