Carbon reduction in the Boardroom?
With pressure on companies to reduce their emissions, can your choice of audio visual supplier affect your carbon footprint?
Roland Dreesden, Reflex's MD looks at ways in which a responsible integrator can help to provide greener audio visual solutions.
"The first key thing is the solution itself" says Dreesden. "Many AV solutions can reduce fuel and travel, for example video conferencing."
"Room control systems allow equipment to be automatically turned off, and the right screen surface can mean that a more energy efficient projector can be used."
The integrator should also take into account locating equipment for effective heat dispersion so that less energy is used in cooling.
Another important aspect is maintenance. Effective maintenance means equipment will operate more efficiently, last longer and use less consumables.
If your integrator can offer remote management of your system, they will be able to rectify some faults remotely, reducing travel.
"Ask your integrator to show you any energy saving features on your equipment" suggests Dreesden."For example, many projectors can be switched to 'eco' mode which uses less power and lengthens lamp life."
Finally, ensure anybody you choose to work with adheres fully to WEEE and ROHS regulations and is an ISO14001 accredited organisation.
"As part of the audio visual industry, I strongly believe it is our job to understand the impact of the products and solutions we provide on the environment. By imparting this knowledge to our customers we can help them make more informed decisions." |
